Crystalline silicon cells: Crystalline silicon cells are the most widely used type of solar cell. Concentrator cells: Concentrator cells are high-efficiency solar cells that are designed to operate in conjunction with a lens or mirror that concentrates sunlight onto the cell. These cells are typically made from expensive, high-quality materials, such as gallium arsenide or indium gallium phosphide, and are used in applications where space is at a premium, or where high levels of solar energy are needed.
Photovoltaic-thermal (PV-T) cells: PV-T cells are hybrid solar cells that are designed to generate both electricity and heat. These cells are typically made from thin-film materials, and are well-suited for applications where both heat and electricity are needed, such as in building heating and cooling systems.
